Mystic Seaport’s model maker prepared this handsome monograph while modeling the James Miller, a schooner built at Essex, Connecticut for the cotton trade in 1854. A history of the vessel, a transcription of a shipbuilder’s detailed description of the vessel, and notes on the model are included. This title received an award of merit from the Connecticut League of Historical Societies.
