Nehemiah ,a Jewish leader prominent in the Bible, is primarily known for his role in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile, serving as a key figure in restoring the city and its people to their former glory by leading a project marked by dedication, strategic planning, and unwavering faith in God.
The prophet Nehemiah provides modern day leaders a wonderful model of leadership. Nehemiah was always asking God to provide a vision for him.
Nehemiah understands his leadership as a calling from God (Neh.2:12b). Nehemiah listened and came to see the need (Neh.1:1-4). He showed care for their situation. Nehemiah identified with the people (Neh.2:17,20). God was always asking God to provide a vision for him. He made prayer an integral part of his vision. Nehemiah gained the trust of the people in an effort in building a team that could make the vision happen. He tried to integrate the people into his vision.
This book, THE LIFE AND MINISTRY OF NEHEMIAH, chronicles how best to embark a project in the face of stiff adversaries, and the procedural approach. He demonstrated courage and determination despite obstacles and opposition.
